Surhoff robbed Adam Everett of a base hit. With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs, Chicago Rastafarians rallied to top Chainsaw Proctologists by the score of 6 to 5. Chicago scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning scoring 2 runs using 3 hits. Jim Thome got things going when he drew a walk. Matt Stairs came to the plate and laced a base-hit. Todd Jones then let loose a wild pitch. Ken Griffey Jr was up next and he stroked a one-base hit which scored a run. Two outs later Alex Cora stepped up to the plate and he singled giving Chicago the victory and sending the 54,639 home-town fans home happy. Chicago managed only 6 on the afternoon. Mike Stanton(2-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Jones(1-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Cora noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!'
